This Privacy Policy explains how Valero Home (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, discloses and protects your personal information when you visit valerohome.com, create an account, place an order, subscribe to our newsletter or contact us. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information we collect

  • Order and account details: your name, billing and delivery address, email address, phone number and order history.
  • Payment information: card payments are processed by Stripe (see below). We do not see or store your full card number or security code.
  • Messages: the details you send us through our contact form or by email.
  • Newsletter: your email address, if you choose to subscribe.
  • Technical data: your IP address, browser and device type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

We collect this information directly from you when you use our website or contact us. You can browse the site without giving us your name, but we need your contact and delivery details to fulfil an order.

Payments and Stripe

We use Stripe as our payment processor. When you pay, your card details are entered on our secure Stripe-powered checkout page at securecartpays.com (our dedicated payment domain) and sent directly to Stripe. Stripe processes your card number, expiry date, security code, billing details, the payment amount and device information to complete the payment, verify it and help prevent fraud. Stripe tells us whether the payment succeeded and gives us limited details such as the card type and last four digits. Stripe handles this information under its own privacy policy: stripe.com/au/privacy.

How we use your information

  • To process, deliver and support your orders, including cancellations, returns and refunds.
  • To manage your account and respond to your questions.
  • To send you our newsletter and offers, if you have subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
  • To keep our website secure, prevent fraud and improve how the site works.
  • To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Cookies

We use cookies that are needed for the shop to work, for example to remember the items in your cart, keep you signed in, save your wishlist and compare lists, and complete checkout. Stripe may also set cookies on the checkout page at securecartpays.com to help prevent fraud. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but some parts of the shop may not work without them.

Who we share your information with

We only share your personal information with service providers who help us run the store, such as our payment processor (Stripe), delivery partners, website hosting and email providers, and only as needed for them to provide their service. We may also disclose information where required by law. We never sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers, including Stripe and our hosting and email providers, may store or process information outside Australia, for example in the United States or Europe. We take reasonable steps to ensure they protect your information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

How long we keep your information

We keep order information for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements (generally at least five years for tax records). Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with your request.

Access and correction

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to delete it where we’re not required to keep it. Email info@valerohome.com and we’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and secure payment processing through Stripe. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your personal information, please email us first and we’ll try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
